The first person to be diagnosed with coronavirus in Londonreportedly breached recommended NHS guidelines and traveled to Lewisham hospital in an Uber taxi.

The woman, who is thought to be a Chinese national, arrived at A&E unannounced and went straight to the reception desk to report her symptoms. Two staff members from the south London hospital are now in isolation at home after coming into contact with the woman. Her diagnosis brings the total number of known cases in the UK to nine.

 

Nearly 2,000 passengers and crew aboard the MS Westerdam have started to disembark the ship after Cambodia yesterday offered a safe harbor. The passengers, none of whom have tested positive for the coronavirus, were greeted by Prime Minister Hun Sen, who handed them flowers.

The UK’s latest confirmed coronavirus patient attended a conference in central London last week alongside 250 people before they were diagnosed, it emerged last night.

Organizers of the UK Bus Summit, which took place on Tuesday, Feb 6, wrote to attendees yesterday under the instruction of Public Health England to inform them they may have come into contact with a person confirmed to have the virus.




Among the speakers slated to attend the Transport Time event were MPs and industry leaders.

The one-day conference was held in Westminster at the QEII Centre, one of London’s largest conference halls.

In an email, delegates were told to stay indoors and avoid contact with others if they were symptomatic, according to the Financial Times.
